3-Week Puppy Update Our puppies are now 3 weeks old, and their world is rapidly expanding! They’ve officially moved into the heart of our home—the living room—where they spend most of their time interacting with us and experiencing daily family life. Their personalities are beginning to shine as they: 🐾 Play with toys, their siblings and explore new objects 🎯 Begin retrieving small items (a big milestone at this age!) 🚽 Start early potty training 🎶 Listen to classical music daily to support neurological development 🔊 Are gently introduced to one new sound and experience each day 🧹 Spend 15 minutes hearing the vacuum as part of our intentional habituation protocol Puppies also interacted with some visitors- we are very lucky to have great neighbors and friends that help us on socializing our puppies! This stage is all about confidence-building, curiosity, and creating positive early associations. We are so proud of how beautifully they’re adapting and look forward to sharing more updates soon as they continue to grow and learn!

Welcome to First Day of school: Puppies are now in Kindergarten! This week, we started the early stages of obedience training—think of it as kindergarten for puppies! We’re following the Puppy Culture program, where even tiny 1-2 minute sessions a day can have a huge impact. Before learning commands, puppies need to associate the clicker sound with a reward. Our little ones have graduated Stage 1 and moved on to Stage 2, where they’re learning that their actions—like touching a box during the “Box Game”—can earn them treats. Next up is Stage 3: teaching “manding,” where puppies learn to automatically sit when they want to communicate or express their needs to humans. This essential skill helps prevent jumping and lays the foundation for healthy communication throughout their lives. These early lessons are shaping them into confident, well-mannered pups—kindergarten never looked so cute!

The puppies have graduated to their larger weaning pen, and they’re absolutely loving the extra space to run and play! With their new setup, we can now rotate a variety of items in their pen to keep them engaged and learning every day. From exploring different surfaces and textures to discovering new sights and sounds, they’re constantly experiencing something new. What’s even better is that they’re now more involved in our daily family life! They can hear the boys chatting and are getting accustomed to the typical sounds of a busy home, helping them grow into well-adjusted, confident pups.

We had such an amazing experience getting our Miniature American Shepherd from EverSummer Minis and I cannot say enough incredible things about Cristine and her family. From the beginning while we were still inquiring about the breed and the trials and tribulations of having a puppy, she was extremely responsive, informative and you could tell she cares so much for her dogs. She is so passionate about the breed and makes sure that she spends the time and effort into raising pups with the best temperament and that they get matched with the best homes for each individual dog. We set up a time to visit her home and meet all her wonderful puppies, where we met our loving puppy Oso. She spent so much time and care into raising these dogs. They provided us with detailed health records on the dam and stud, socialized and trained the litter well, and were always available to answer our questions and give us constant updates. Our little Oso is happy, healthy and has the sweetest temperament. At 10 weeks he is crate trained, potty-trained and doing so well at learning new things. If you’re considering adding a new furry friend to your family, I would highly recommend you consider the Miniature American Shepherd and EverSummer Minis with Cristine!
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
