I'm Christine H., the breeder behind FAFO Ranch located in Del Norte, CO. We offer top quality CMDs & Livestock Guard Dogs focused on temperament and health. We are pleased to be a part of the Colorado Mountain Dog family. These dogs are bred for their temperament and ability to be livestock guard dogs coupled with family dogs. The CMD breed needs to have a job with min 2 acres to run on. FAFO CMDs are exposed to goats, horses, cows and chickens.
Q. & A. with Christine
Why did you start breeding?
After we brought OUM Della of FAFO, we quickly learned that she needed a partner. We then went through the Colorado Mountain Dog website and found a match in 84R Dillon of FAFO. G6 is classified as a pure bred CMD. Della is a G2 & Dillon is a G3, their litter is a G3 litter. While we increase the number of CMDs on our ranch, we wanted to increase in Generations as well.
What makes your program special?
FAFO Ranch breeding program is not to become a “puppy mill”, but to systematically breed our CMDs with low COI’s while moving up in generations. Our females will have 3-4 litters max, then they will be retired. It’s not about the money, but about staying within the CMD guidelines and place the pups with the right small family farm.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include white, badger, and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
