I'm Susan K., the breeder behind Firelands Border Terriers located in Oberlin, OH. I began the Firelands kennel in 1998. I am interested in both show and performance events and most importantly in maintaining the historical integrity and health of the breed. I do not breed often, mainly to carry on the lines that I have been developing over 9 generations of Border Terriers.
Q. & A. with Susan
Why did you start breeding?
I got my first Border Terrier as a companion pet when I was living in the UK. As I developed a deeper interest in the breed, I began to import high quality foundation stock from both Finland and the United Kingdom. The dogs I keep for breeding are always AKC Champions with all required CHIC health tests. I do not breed often but have had some success over the years.
What makes your program special?
I am interested in breeding beautiful, sound companion dogs for myself and for those I entrust my dogs with. I try to keep in contact with all owners for news about my dogs for their entire life-time. So when you get a Firelands Border Terrier you become a permanent part of my family.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
