Meet the breeder

I'm Skylar C., the breeder behind Fireside Fernweh located in Chestnut, IL. Our kennel, located in Illinois, breeds WSS & GSDs with utmost care. Our breeding dogs have been extensively health tested for an array of diseases and hold many accolades in shows and sports. Most importantly, they have sociable and stable temperaments that make excellent companions.

Q. & A. with Skylar

  • Why did you start breeding?

I began competing in dog sports and eventually conformation as well, and when my sporty WSS, Furrari, passed all health testing, I felt she needed to contribute to the gene pool and thus Fireside Fernweh was born. I did not go seeking breeding out, but rather I was lucky to have an exceptional dog, and I knew that I wanted more dogs like her in the future--for myself and for others.
  • What makes your program special?

Fireside Fernweh was born from excellence and continues to pursue excellence in every aspect. Our dogs are social, driven, intelligent, healthy, and beautiful - everything a White Swiss Shepherd should be. Our dogs are health tested above and beyond the requirements set by the breed club and they hold titles in conformation and a multitude of dog sports.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Berger Blanc Suisse puppies are white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
