I'm Candace B., the breeder behind Folklore Akitas located in Granbury, TX. All parents are tested with the OFA on hips, elbows and dna breeder tested with embark. Puppies come with a 2 year health guarantee, life time breeder support, collar, toy, utd on shots with exam from certified vet, and some food. They also come with Limited AKC registration and litter certificate. Full registration is available upon request to approved homes for additional cost.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I bought my first akita in 2009 and fell in love with the breed.
  • What makes your program special?

    I breed for health and the betterment of the breed. I care very much were my puppies go, you will become apart of my extended family. I love to keep in touch, I do require pictures of the puppy to be sent to me every now and then. I will always be around to answer any questions or concerns or if you just want to talk. I stand behind my puppies 100 percent and do take them back if the need arises.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include silver, black, brown undercoat, black, silver undercoat, brown, black overlay, fawn, fawn, black overlay, red, red, black overlay, and silver, black overlay. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Candace

Candace has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $300 non-refundable deposit and between $1,700 - $2,700 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“Deposits are non-refundable. Also includes multiple dewormings, utd on shots, vet check, AKC registration, litter certificate, collar, toy and starter bag of food. The deposit is required to hold the puppy of your choosing.”

Candace may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia , Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (Preliminary), Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
