I'm Aerica B., the breeder behind Folklore Kennel located in Caldwell, OH. Folklore Kennels is a small, home-based preservation breeding program in southeastern Ohio, focused on Beagles and Pugs bred for temperament, health, and sound structure. Our love of dogs began with Pugs and grew to include Beagles. Puppies are raised in our home and placed thoughtfully.

Getting a puppy from Aerica

Aerica has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Aerica partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“At Folklore Kennels, we take great care in placing each puppy with the right family. Reservations are accepted by pick order (for example: 2nd pick female or 3rd pick male), but puppies are not chosen based solely on markings or appearance. As the puppies grow, we carefully evaluate their temperaments, structure, and personalities while getting to know the goals and lifestyle of each family. Once the puppies are old enough for us to make thoughtful evaluations — typically around 7–8 weeks — we guide the matching process to ensure the best possible fit for both puppy and home. Our goal is always to create lifelong partnerships where both the puppy and the family can thrive.”

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Our puppy’s name is Cooper. He is an amazing beagle. I had no idea how much of an impact “hand” raising could make. Our puppy just loves children, and that is so important even if you do not have young children in your household. Aerica and her whole family are wonderful people, and who they are shines through in the puppies they raise. I cannot say enough about Aerica and her family because it is she and her family that makes the difference. We wanted to get a second beagle from Aerica. The only reason we did not is that her pups are reserved so fast that we missed the opportunity. Aerica is a delightful person, and she has a wonderful family. And it is these family members who are the reason she has such highly socialized puppies. I am so happy that we have a Folklore Kennels puppy.

    In 2024, right before Christmas, our family welcomed our first beagle from Folklore Kennel, bred by the wonderful Aerica. Her name is Dea (Daya), and she is now a little over a year old. Dea is a beautiful girl with an outstanding look and an incredible personality — playful, loving, and full of charm. Working with Aerica was such a pleasant experience. She patiently answered all of our questions, stayed in touch with us throughout the process, and kindly shared detailed information about Dea’s parents. We always felt supported and confident that our puppy came from a caring and responsible breeder. We named Dea after a character from a novel by Victor Hugo, whose books we love. In 2026, we realized that Dea might enjoy having a companion, so we returned to Folklore Kennel. This time we welcomed a little boy — Hugo! The most exciting part was that we were able to follow his journey from the moment he was born all the way until the day we picked him up. Watching him grow week by week was such a joy. Now Hugo is home with us and with Dea, and they are already becoming the sweetest pair. His full name is Victor Hugo, after the famous novelist. Both of our beagles are playful, energetic, incredibly good-looking, and bring so much happiness and fun into our home. We truly adore them. We are very grateful to Aerica for giving us the opportunity to have these beautiful dogs and for the care she puts into raising such wonderful puppies.
