Meet the breeder

I'm Laura T., the breeder behind Follow My Lead Great Danes located in Brooksville, FL. I am a professional dog trainer, and I breed with a focus on temperament and health. Our dogs work hard, play hard, love hard & are part of the family. We prepare all our pups to thrive in their future jobs and families with specialized training to be confident, well adjusted adult dogs.

Q. & A. with Laura

  • Why did you start breeding?

I got into breeding within the past 8 years when I met with a client (Paige Horne of Royalworth Kennels AKC Breeder of Merit) who needed some training help with the dogs at her kennel. She breeds world class Miniature Long Haired Dachshunds and really has mentored me and inspired me to see what it takes to not only be an ethical breeder, but an exceptional breeder with heart.
  • What makes your program special?

We are expecting to produce puppies capable of providing assistance work through service dog training, therapy dogs and Emotional Support Animals. This requires a very intuitive, confident, and gentle nature and we strongly feel that both the Dam and Sire exhibit these qualities. Puppies temperaments are assessed at 7 weeks old and matched to their forever home based on the objective of the adopter.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include black and white, merlequin, brindle, fawn, harlequin, mantle, merle, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Laura

Laura has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Laura partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 7 weeks old.

“Puppies are matched to their homes based on temperament, structure, and overall suitability for the individual family. While preferences for color, markings, and sex are taken into consideration, final placement decisions are made by the breeder to ensure the best long-term outcome for each puppy. Each puppy develops differently, and early evaluations allow us to identify strengths in confidence, sensitivity, drive, and adaptability. Our goal is not just to place puppies based on appearance, but to create successful, lasting matches that set both the puppy and owner up for success. Matching is done with intention, not on a first-come, first-served basis. Our responsibility is to each puppy first, and we prioritize placements that support long-term stability, proper training, and a successful relationship between dog and owner.”

Laura was fantastic to work with. Her facility is topnotch and you can tell she not only loves the breed but truly cares about the litter before and after the dog leaves her. We have got numerous good ideas of how to train and make our puppy fit in to her new home. We feel we have found a new friend in Laura and an excellent new addition to our furbaby family. Thanks Laura we appreciate you!
