All healthy and vet checked!! EIGHT WEEKS OLD!!

Flokey and Lilly's litter

The puppies getting ready for bed…sort of! They get REALLY excited every time they get a change of scenery, “new” toys, clean potty pads, and fresh water. They are all going to get baths tomorrow morning so they are clean for the vet (I’m a weenie about poking vaccines and microchips into dirty puppies). 🐶

Here we gooooooo! Everyone getting ready?! Puppies go to the vet tomorrow for vaccines, health check, and microchip!! I will send individual puppy health reports to everyone tomorrow evening! Puppies are currently eating Victor HiPro Plus Large Breed Puppy food, about 1-1.5 cups twice a day. We will send home as much as we can cram into a gallon ziplock, so everyone can change to something different if they desire. Our other go-to foods, which are formulated for large breed puppies, are Taste of the Wild Puppy (Pacific Stream or High Prairie seem to be most palatable, and Royal Canin (they love it but it’s pricey). Each puppy will go home with a collar and leash, 3+ toys, temperament testing results, individual puppy folder and vet report, a week worth of probiotics and Olweo carrots, a treat or two, crate and potty training tips, and a blankie that has mom and littermates scent. Oh! And a baggie of grass pellets with poop/pee for your yard! We also strongly recommend crate training, and we personally prefer the more enclosed plastic travel crates, though puppies are used to a wire crate with a cover (and only a few seem to like to chew the corner of the cover). We also really like exercise pens for puppies when they can’t be directly supervised! The photos in the update show pens with crates and litter pans, which we like. We actually use rabbit food grass pellets, and cheap, deep, rubber boot trays from Menards for puppy trays. I’ll be posting more video tonight, and 8 week photos tomorrow!! Please reach out with any questions!!

Forgot to add this to the last update!! Babies in their night pen waiting for dinner!

Whew!!! Time is flying!! Just a peek into how puppies start their day (and end their night)! The small puppy pen has become too small for everyone to overnight, as you can see in the last clip! lol Puppies are eating 1.5 cups each of dry kibble, twice a day, at about 7 am and 7 pm. They don’t always finish right away, and some are pickers. I was and sanitize the pee pads morning and night, and the same with toys, water and food containers, and floors and walls. Puppies are fully weaned from mom, and she only gets very short visits either them now, supervised. She adores them, but also tries to play with them like they are big! The third clip is the reason unethical puppy breeders try to send puppies home at 6 weeks! It’s an INSANE amount of cleaning right now. I probably spend 5-6 hours each day cleaning both rooms every evening, in addition to starting puppy laundry for the day each morning before work, and waking up a couple times overnight to rotate laundry. They are a lot of personality now!!

Puppies are eating plain, old kibble. At breakfast tomorrow I might add a can of Royal Canin puppy, just so they can get their probiotics! Temperament testing tomorrow morning!! And then their first baths, nail trims, and last set of new puppy collars before they get REAL collars!

Nighttime pen! Due to the nature of having TEN puppies in the house, I have to completely strip, mop/sanitize, and wash bedding every night. Puppies switch into the nighttime pen after dinner, and get a few hours to play and sleep and most everything in between!

Dinner part 2: The Aftermath They ate dinner in about 4 minutes! They gave a slow feeder of dry kibble to play with, if they want, until bedtime. Mom will start staying out of the puppy room for a few hours a day starting tomorrow. They are already giving up on tormenting her to nurse them, much to her delight! She is still a cleaning machine!

Puppies are six’s weeks old tomorrow!! They absolutely demolished the whelping pen overnight, so they now have free rein of the puppy room. Their litter box is a full 4x9’ and they are consistently making it to the box to poop. Once in awhile one will realize that they have to pee to late to make it, but they are trying pretty hard! They are collectively eating about 18 cups of kibble per day, soaked, and about 3 big cans of Royal Canin puppy. I’ll transition out of the canned completely once I finish their 6 week deworming (I like to entice them to eat as much as possible because deworming meds can give them upset tummies).

Joselynne was great to work with. She responded to any and all questions quickly. She sent updates weekly. It was so nice to see our pup as she was changing week to week. We were able to meet our pup a few weeks before we took her home too. I would highly recommend Joselynne!
