I'm Gail R., the breeder behind Gail’s Goldens located in Kenosha, WI. We are committed to always responsibly breeding with the best interest of our puppies’ health and longevity at the forefront. We find so much joy in watching our puppies grow and develop their own unique personalities. We can’t wait for you to meet your next loving and loyal companion!

  • Why did you start breeding?

    We have owned and loved many golden retrievers in the last 30 + years. All of our goldens have been raised individually in our home. We decided to breed our dam, Belle, (fully registered with AKC —American Kennel Club) when she was at an appropriate breeding age and cleared all AKC recommended health testing.

  • What makes your program special?

    Family owned, home raised puppies. We have diligently searched for complimentary sires to breed with our Belle. The studs we have found live with their owners: Scout (light golden) with an impressive AKC pedigree and wonderful temperament and Sunna who is a dark golden and working on becoming a therapy dog.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home and guardian homes.

Getting a puppy from Gail

Gail has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Gail partners with them to find the best puppy match.

“We take great care in placing our puppies with the right family. We consider family's choice of gender. As puppies grow, we look at the puppies' temperaments, usually around 4-5 weeks old. ”

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit. The remaining $2,300 - $2,800 is due before pickup, plus applicable taxes and fees.

“The price includes Vet examined puppy, which has had puppy dewormer and initial vaccinations. A microchip will be provided to the buyer to have inserted at their vet clinic. All are offered with Limited Registration at $2800. Breeding rights and ability to show at AKC conformation, Full registration $3300. All puppies (regardless of sex, color or size) Limited AKC registration price: $2800 (beginning in 2027) $500 deposit plus final payment of $2300. Full registration price (breeding rights and conformation event eligible): $3300 (beginning in 2027). $500 deposit plus final payment of $2800. Deposit may be held for next litter, if you desire.”

Gail may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase.   • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Brucellosis

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • PRA, Golden Retriever 2, PRA, Golden Retriever 1, Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), Golden Retriever Type, Ichthyosis, Golden Retriever Type, Exercise Induced Collapse (EIC), Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Neuronal Ceroid Lipofuscinosis 5 (NCL5), Golden Retriever Type

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    Oli (aka Ravioli) has truly been the greatest gift, and we are so grateful to Gail for bringing him into our lives. From the very beginning, Gail was incredibly professional and thoughtful. Her communication from when Oli was born until pickup was above and beyond. She kept us in the loop, sent updates & photos, and was a pleasure to work with. On pickup day, she took the time to walk us through everything - paperwork, AKC registration, medical information, and more - and answered all of our questions with patience and expertise. It’s clear how much care Gail puts into her breeding program. Gail’s Belle is a beautiful, healthy family dog with an amazing temperament, which gave us so much confidence from the start. Oli is the sweetest, cuddliest, most loving boy. He’s energetic, playful, and full of personality. People stop us on the street constantly to tell us how handsome he is lol! We are forever grateful for the care Gail took in raising him and setting him up for success in his new home.     This was me and my fiancé’s first dog and we had a great experience. Gail was very good at communicating and telling us how the whole process works.
