I'm Lauren G., the breeder behind Gil-VTales located in Cary, NC. We understand the responsibility of purposefully breeding in order to improve the health of breed and enrich the lives of the families that love them! As breeders, we are very selective in our breeding decisions. We prioritize maintaining a small breeding program to allow individual socialization of each puppy. We are code of Ethics breeders, and belong to Malagasy Coton Preservation Club (MCPC).
Q. & A. with Lauren
Why did you start breeding?
When the world shut down in 2020, we thought it might be fun to expand to breeding dogs. Coming from long haired cats we though a long haired dog might be fun, but we also thought it might be nice to have a little LESS shedding in our world. We also wanted a small breed that had similar personalities to the cats – affectionate, loyal, and attentive. And, most of all, I wanted a healthy breed.
What makes your program special?
We are a very small breeder - currently only 1 dog - with a very strong focus on health. More then any other quality, we want our pups to live long healthy lives. That STARTS with DNA testing to ensure the dogs we use are free from genetic diseases, and breeding for diversity over anything else (such as coat color).
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include white and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
