I'm Julie C., the breeder behind Golden Rose Kennel located in Norlina, NC. Our goal at Golden Rose Kennel at Tranquility Farm is to produce the best Golden Retriever possible with a focus on temperament and conformation. We are dedicated to improving the breed one puppy at a time.
Q. & A. with Julie
Why did you start breeding?
In 1996 I got my first Golden Retriever, Megan, and she was a fully charged golden dynamo. She was quite hyperactive, and not at all calm as Goldens should be. However, she was very sweet natured and I decided to get a second Golden. This puppy, Ginger, was entirely a different temperament, very laid back and relaxed. Ginger turned out to be our foundation bitch.
What makes your program special?
All of our breeding dogs are OFA certified for hips and elbows. Our dogs have also had their eyes and hearts checked for hereditary problems. We are members of the Golden Retriever Club of America, and locally, the Tarheel Golden Retriever Club. I find that these memberships help to keep us up to date on Golden happenings, and gives us great contacts with other local breeders.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
