“For the health and safety of our puppies, we do not allow in-person visits prior to go-home day. 🤎 Young puppies have developing immune systems and are especially vulnerable to illnesses such as Parvovirus and other contagious diseases, which can unknowingly be carried in on shoes, clothing, hands, or from contact with other animals. 🦠🐾 Because our puppies are raised in our home, limiting outside traffic also helps us maintain a clean, calm, and controlled environment for both mom and her babies. 🏡✨ We know how exciting it is to watch your puppy grow, so we provide photos, videos, updates, and plenty of communication throughout the process. 📸🤎 This policy isn’t meant to take away from the experience—it’s simply one of the ways we choose to put the health, safety, and wellbeing of every puppy first. 🐶🫶 Choosing your puppy is one of the most exciting parts of the journey, and our goal is to make sure each puppy is placed with a family where they have the greatest opportunity to thrive for a lifetime. 🏡✨ Throughout the puppies’ first several weeks with us, we spend an incredible amount of time getting to know each puppy as an individual. While they may look similar when they’re tiny, their personalities, confidence levels, energy, sensitivities, independence, social preferences, and natural tendencies begin to develop as they grow. 🌱🐶 Rather than encouraging families to choose a puppy based solely on a photo, coat color, or a single interaction, our selection process considers the whole puppy and the whole family. 🤎 From birth through selection day, each puppy is closely observed as they grow and experience new things. Through daily handling, enrichment, socialization, new environments, sounds, surfaces, problem-solving activities, individual interaction, and time with their littermates, we are able to learn more about each puppy’s developing temperament. We pay attention to qualities such as: * Confidence and recovery after something new or unexpected 🌟 * Energy and activity level ⚡ * Human engagement and desire for affection 🤎 * Independence versus desire to remain close to people 🐾 * Social behavior with littermates 🐶 * Response to handling 👐 * Curiosity and willingness to explore 🌿 * Sensitivity to sounds, environments, and stimulation 🔔 * Problem-solving and persistence 🧩 * Food and toy motivation 🦴 * Ability to settle after excitement 💤 * Overall temperament and personality ✨ These observations allow us to build a much more complete picture of each puppy than what can be seen during a short visit or through photos and videos. 📸 We also want to understand you. Before selections are finalized, we consider your household, lifestyle, experience with dogs, activity level, other pets, children, work schedule, expectations, and what you ultimately hope for in your puppy. A family looking for an easygoing companion may be best suited to a different puppy than someone wanting an adventurous hiking partner, potential therapy dog, sport prospect, or very outgoing family dog. 🥾🐕‍🦺 There is no single “best puppy” in a litter. Puppy selections take place at approximately 7 weeks of age, once we have had enough time to observe the litter and evaluate their developing personalities. Families select in the order established for their litter - typically in order of deposits placed and with priority to service/therapy dog families. When it is your turn, you will receive information about the puppies available to you along with our observations and recommendations. 🤎 We encourage families to share their top 2-3 favorites, and your preferences absolutely matter. However, we will also be transparent if we believe another available puppy may be better suited to what you have told us you are looking for. Our goal is not to choose for you, but to give you the information you need to make an educated and confident decision. 🐶🤝 We know coat color, size, markings, and overall appearance can be important—and it is completely okay to have preferences! However, we strongly encourage families to prioritize temperament and compatibility first. The puppy you initially fall in love with in a photograph may not necessarily be the puppy whose personality fits your household best. Looks will change tremendously as puppies mature; temperament and lifestyle compatibility will have a much greater impact on the life you build together. 🌱🏡 Puppies being considered for our breeding program or Guardian Home Program may go through additional evaluation. These decisions are based on the puppy as a whole and may include structure, temperament, pedigree, genetic testing, health information, development, and how that puppy may complement the long-term goals of our program. Being beautiful alone does not make a puppy a breeding prospect. Our responsibility as breeders is to be selective about the dogs we consider for future generations and to prioritize health, temperament, structure, and the preservation and improvement of the breed. 🧬🤎 We want puppy selection to feel exciting, personal, and special—but we also take it seriously. Bringing home a puppy is the beginning of what will hopefully be 10–15+ years together, and we believe that decision deserves more consideration than simply choosing the puppy who photographs the cutest at six weeks old. 🏡🐶 By combining everything we have learned about each puppy with everything you have shared with us about your family, we can help guide you toward a puppy whose personality and needs align beautifully with the life you are prepared to provide.
