I'm Bridget O., the breeder behind Halcyon Kennels located in Mattapoisett, MA. Golden Retrievers are our passion, and we can't imagine spending our lives without them. We are dedicated to produce healthy, happy, family pets. We love to raise puppies and prepare them for their forever homes.
Q. & A. with Bridget
Why did you start breeding?
My father bought his first Golden in 1979. He decided to breed him, in pursuit of his next duck hunting partner. As they say- “the rest is history”. I grew up helping my dad whelp litters and train puppies. As I matured, I learned more and more about pedigrees, health clearances, and what to look for when choosing breeding pairs.
What makes your program special?
Our two main breeding goals are health and temperament. Our dogs are fully health tested, and we strive to produce the healthiest dogs possible. We focus on early socialization and training to achieve the “typical Golden” personality that everyone enjoys- friendly, easy to train, outgoing, and cuddly.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
