I'm Karen S., the breeder behind Harpers Doodles and Poodles located in Burkeville, TX. We breed for health and temperament. All our puppies have shown great signs of intelligence, and some have even gone into homes to become service dogs. We are dedicated to providing your family with happy, healthy, loving pups.
Q. & A. with Karen
Why did you start breeding?
I've always loved dogs and poodles. A friend of mine introduced me into the breeding program with my first standard poodle named Harper. My friend has given me a wealth of advice on breeding healthy, happy pups with great temperaments. All of my dogs are loved as family members first and foremost, and I cherish them from the moment of birth up until they leave my arms to snuggle up into yours.
What makes your program special?
We care for our dogs at home and on our property. They get plenty of attention and a whole farm to run on for exercise. They are exposed to all sorts of different noises, animals, and people. We breed for health and temperament and not for color or just their cute looks, even though they are adorable anyways. I take pride in what I do and can't wait to introduce you to your next companion.
What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Poodle puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Poodle puppies include apricot and cream. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
