I'm Danielle J., the breeder behind Haus Annandael Basenjis located in Hartford, VA. I am a preservation breeder striving for quality, health, and to ensure the future of the breed for generations to come. Here at Haus Annandael, we are dedicated to the overall well-being of the Basenji breed. All of our dogs live in our home as members of the family. They are treated as pets first and show and breeding dogs second. Health and temperament are at the top of our list along with function. It is an honor to represent this breed!
Q. & A. with Danielle
Why did you start breeding?
I started breeding for the preservation of the Basenji and because I wanted to do my part to better the breed. My breeding program strives to maintain the unique characteristics of the breed while placing an emphasis on producing Basenjis of superior health, temperament, and conformation. I understand the very important role that breeders undertake; that today’s breeders are the guardians of the future wellbeing of the Basenji.
What makes your program special?
I strive to produce balanced dogs with solid personalities without sacrificing nature's masterpiece. I am devoted to ensuring there are happy and healthy Basenjis for people to enjoy and do so by responsibly growing this incredible breed. I find so much fulfillment in raising and preparing my puppies to excel for their loving, forever homes.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black tan and white, red and white, and black and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
