Meet the breeder

I'm Terri M., the breeder behind Havanese of Claverack and Hudson Valley Labradors located in Hudson, NY. My dogs friendly, people oriented are considered part of the family. I strive to produce quality puppies for families that are structurally sound, healthy, intuitive and have wonderful temperaments. My passion for this breed is poured into every aspect of my breeding program.

Q. & A. with Terri

  • Why did you start breeding?

I fell in love with my sister-in-law's Labradors and ended up buying one. I believed I could help improve the quality of dogs offered to the public. As I’ve gotten older I realized that a smaller dog would better suit my lifestyle. I researched the smaller breeds and selected the Havanese for their friendly personalities.
  • What makes your program special?

Havanese are such a joy and I find so much fulfillment in raising and preparing them for their loving, forever homes. I strive for quality and excellence with everything that I do. Holding myself to high standards is paramount to the well-being of my dogs and to the integrity of my program. I love what I do and truly want the very best for my puppies and their forever families.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our Labrador Retriever puppies are yellow. Havanese puppies include cream, silver, black, gold sable, fawn, and black brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

It was great working with Terri. She was in constant communication with us as we waiting to pick up our puppy. Terri sent videos and photos of our puppy. We were able to meet our puppy prior to pick up so we could get to know her. Terri answered all of my questions and provided a valuable care package at time of pick up. We loved our experience and our new puppy so much that we want another puppy from a future litter.

Terri was wonderful throughout the process of getting our new furry family member! She is very passionate about her puppies and wants to ensure that new puppy parents are well equipped for their puppy. She was very responsive and easy to work with. She checked in regularly before and after we brought our puppy home. Stella is a great addition to our family and her personality is exactly how Terri described!

Got my beautiful havanese pup in great health. Terri gave lots of information and help leading up to pick up day. And sent updates about the pup regularly during growth. Was great to get to meet the puppies at 6 weeks and meet terri to talk things in through in person. Couldn't have asked for a better dog

Working with Terri was very easy. Although we're experienced Havanese owners, we still had some questions as it'd been a while since we had a puppy. Terri patiently answered all our questions, offered great advice and took the time to understand our family and habits. Her dogs are healthy and friendly, her home clean (how she does that with 2 litters of pups is something!). We've had our pup for over a week now and he does very well with potty training. He's alert, friendly, playful, curious about everyone and everything. Not a mean streak in him at all. He adores our older Havanese - follows her everywhere! All in all, Terri was a joy to work with and we would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a healthy, quality Havanese puppy.

Terri’s Havanese of Claverack has been one of the best breeder that I have connected with till date. She was amazing from the start till date. Allowed us to independently select the litters n gave us all transparency of the process and updates through out the 2 months wait. We could not wait to visit the pup and I was amazed at her structured process of letting visitors to meet the puppy only post 6 weeks. Additionally, when we went to meet the pups, we looked at how she takes care of the mother and dad Havanese and they were wel maintained. Our Pup Argus was the tiny one amongst the other litters and while I was a bit afraid If he could become strong, as I understand he was a bit timid amongst the others. Trust me he is a rockstar now. We got him home when he was 10 weeks and I can’t express my satisfaction and love for the tiny one. He is intelligent, does not fuzz around sleeping time and came home almost fully potty trained. Terri continues to guide me as Argus grows and we want to keep up the engagement throughout Argus life journey. The other pet parents are equally excited to keep the connect as well. One of the best choice I made. My kid and my family loves Argus and we will look forward to exploring future interest through Terri as well.

Teri is a devoted breeder and loves her dogs. The puppies are brought up in a home with lots of attention and nurturing. During the first 10 weeks, Teri was excellent in frequently communicating with all of the puppy owners - sending updates, pics & videos. On a one-on-one basis with questions, she responded promptly. The havanese puppies are well-socialized and beautiful in coloring! We are so happy with our pup :))
