Q. & A. with Sandi
Why did you start breeding?
I bought 2 breeding bitches and have trained and titled them and have decided I would like to better the breed.
What makes your program special?
This is a learning process and the most important thing for me is to give the puppies the best start in life. Parents are genetic tested through Embark to ensure not to pass bad genes along with OFA for both hips and elbow. Puppies are fully vaccinated, microchipped and de wormed. For the time they are nursing I am very careful to have puppies on a special rug to ensure that while they push with their hind legs they are not jeopardizing the hip joints. They are properly socialized (once vaccinated). I have al sorts of thing to introduce them to textures on their feet and bodies. I work alot with their feet and clip nails weekly so they are used to the process of nail clipping.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies have plush coats. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Moonlight, mom
German Shepherd
About Moonlight
Moonlight on the bay is a wonderful girl. I had her out on the show circuit for 2 years and she is missing a 3 point major to become a Champion. She has a wonderful personality and such a great mom for the first time. She sleeps with us and she love to snuggle but also like to put her head around my head / neck as if to say I am protecting you mommy
Mick, dad
German Shepherd
About Mick
Mick is a wonderful gentle young man. Great around other dog's cats and defiantly young children. he went out on the confirmation show circuit with his handler at 5 months of age and by 8 months was 1 point from his championship. We decided he needed to come home to mature common for male dogs. He can't wait to go back out and show off is personality and handsome looks along with his talent. He is DNA tested and passed his preliminary OFA for hips and elbow
Whiskey, mom
German Shepherd
About Whiskey
Whiskey is a female German Shepherd. Carefully selected as a great representative of her breed, Sandi decided to make her part of their program. Sandi has passed Good Dog’s screening process, which involved a review of their breeding practices, environment, and the mental and physical health of their dogs.
Parent health testing
Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
He Reigns reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
