Meet the breeder

I'm Daniel & Jessica R., the breeder behind High Sierra Goldens located in Susanville, CA. We offer well-rounded puppies who will excel in any adventure with their new family. Our dogs are bred for health, temperament, intelligence, and conformation. Each of our dogs is highly intelligent and has a gentle temperament. Several of our dogs have entered into service work or enjoy working as therapy dogs. By creating an environment of health and harmony for young puppies, we believe we are able to give each little pup the very best chance to reach its potential, express its best character, and bring forth its greatest gifts in the relationship with itself and to its family.

Q. & A. with Daniel & Jessica

  • Why did you start breeding?

We are second-generation breeders and decided to start breeding after we realized how much our dog helped combat Daniel's PTSD. We began studying the genetics, temperaments, conformation, and overall health of Golden Retrievers. We wanted to improve the breed and focus on their health. Jessica then graduated Starmark school for dog Trainers in 2020. It has been an absolute joy of a journey, and we are so happy to be able to share these wonderful dogs with other loving families and individuals.
  • What makes your program special?

Our dogs are raised in our home and with guardian families. We breed for the gentle temperaments and donate a select number of service dogs to veterans every year so that they can become helpful and beloved companions. With the knowledge Jessica gained from school, we are available for lifetime support to our buyers. We can help with training and any possible behavior issues our families may encounter with their new puppies. We are passionate about our dogs, and our love for them shines through in every aspect of our breeding program!
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.
