I'm Ellen R., the breeder behind Honor German Shorthaired Pointers located in Mesa, AZ. We strive to bridge the gap between "show" and "field", breeding dogs that can be successful in any venue. Our dogs have titles and placements in: conformation, agility, obedience/Rally, dock diving, hunting/field trials, coursing/FastCAT, and scent work.
Q. & A. with Ellen
Why did you start breeding?
I have found a divide between "show" dogs and "working" dogs. I believe the two support one another. A dog with proper structure will run harder in the field and last longer into old age, and an active dog will be in better condition physically and mentally in the ring. I wanted to be someone who improves the breed through versatility.
What makes your program special?
I do not believe that our dogs can only do one thing. The GSP was created to be versatile, and that is what we strive for. Our dogs should be structurally sound, healthy, level-headed, and able to succeed in any environment they are put in. Our dogs have been show dogs, hunting dogs, obedience dogs, agility dogs, service dogs, and most importantly family dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include white and liver, liver roan, and liver and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

We went out to a hunt test this weekend. Two of our dogs came home with new Junior Hunter titles and Momma Syn was still a pro after months off. I brought home a few quail for the puppies to meet. The kids will be sleeping well tonight!

Sorry all, Week 5 photos will be one day late. We have been at a dog show all day today, but are coming home with a new champion! This girl is a half sister (same mom) to our current litter.

Ellen was great and easy to work with! I could tell she always had Macaroons best interest in mind. We received updates through the whole process and knew we could always reach out for questions. Was so glad to have found Ellen and Honor German Shorthaired Pointers for our puppy.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
