I'm Carol S., the breeder behind IchBin Gesegnet located in Polk City, FL. I am focused on breeding high quality biddable dogs with a strong working line that are able to adapt to any life that their owners choose.
My past puppies have excelled as Pets, Obedience, Protection, Detection (HRD) and Medical Alert dogs.
I only breed once a year to 18 months.
Q. & A. with Carol
Why did you start breeding?
Raven was the breeders pick of the litter. She was going to keep her for her program. She encouraged me to breed Raven and my world opened up wide. Best experience of my life and watching her puppies excel has been the most rewarding experience. The stories from the owners touch me so deeply and continue to encourage me on my journey.
What makes your program special?
I think everyone says a similar thing but I will say I am passionate about the breed and giving the pups the best start on a great life with humans. I incorporate ENS, ESI and Jane Killians Puppy Culture into the raising of these pups until their go home date arrives. I offer continued follow up support and stay in touch with the families.
What are the different breed coat types in your program?
Our puppies include stock and long coat varieties. Coat types may vary depending on the parent dogs.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include sable, black, and bi-color. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Breeder-Reported Testing
Excellent level
IchBin Gesegnet reports to performing the health tests below on their breeding dogs. Ask your breeder about the tests performed on the parents of your litter. Learn more about health testing for German Shepherds.
Hip Dysplasia (Preliminary), Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Temperament Test
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel, DNA Profile, DNA Coat/Trait Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
