I'm Juanita I., the breeder behind Imperiale French Bulldogs located in Michigan. My husband (Vince) and I are Imperiale French Bulldogs, and we also co-breed with Stephanie Chilton of Ironwood kennels. We are serious preservation hobby breeders, only breeding to the AKC breed standard. We are NOT volume breeders. We breed for our next generation of show potential prospects, and occasionally have puppies or retired adults available to approved companion homes. We are highly regarded world wide among our peers for our contribution to the French Bulldog breed. Health, Temperament, and Conformation are top priorities in our breeding program. We are proud members of the French Bulldog Club of America. Our dogs are first and foremost family members who happen to enjoy participating in conformation and performance events.
Q. & A. with Juanita
Why did you start breeding?
We started in French Bulldogs because my husband, Vince, took an interest in the breed. We showed Great Danes at that time, and our first French Bulldog was a Christmas gift for Vince. Getting started we relied upon our experiences in Great Danes because the French Bulldog was uncommon at the time. We didn’t know anyone in the breed, so we took the breed standard ring side and watched and followed the dogs that in our opinion fit the breed standard. When we found the dogs we were interested in, we learned their pedigrees and followed their puppies, which took a few generations. Then we chose the dogs that consistently produced the conformation, temperament, and health we wanted to produce.
What makes your program special?
EXPERIENCE! We have been breeding French Bulldogs for more than 30 years, long before the popularity of the breed we see today. We consider a multitude of factors when planning a breeding. Producing a better dog each time we breed is always one of our goals. Our ambition is to breed a healthy, competitive, dog to take in the ring. And, even if we decide to place a puppy or retired adult in a companion home, these dogs still meet our standards for breed standard appearance, health and temperament. We do not place breeding dogs EVER. Companion family homes benefit from our commitment to quality.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include brindle and fawn. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
