Colleen L.

Breeder of Golden Retrievers

Meet the breeder

I'm Colleen L., the breeder behind Iron Rose Retrievers located in Peosta, IA. We understand the responsibility of purposefully breeding in order to do better for the breed and the families that love them! We are professional, responsible, and ethical dog breeders who love our dogs as part of our family. Our goals are always evolving and we’re eager to see what each new litter brings!

Q. & A. with Colleen

  • Why did you start breeding?

The love of all animals and working as a Veterinary Assistant peaked my interest in breeding. I saw many bad breeding's and many Goldens with a lot of issues. My goal is to better the breed and provide others with a pet without all of the preventable health problems that I was seeing at the clinic.
  • What makes your program special?

I take the time to socialize my puppies to many different things. I take them on gater rides around our farm. They get to see cows, calves and cats. We have a lot of visitors so they see lots of different people. I take them for car rides and to the local splash pad and park. I take them to some of the local stores when I can. I start crate and potty training and basic commands with them.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
