Meet the breeder

I'm JIM B., the breeder behind JLB's Yonah Goldens located in Cleveland, GA. Yonah Goldens breeds high-quality puppies. We love what we do and are committed to producing well-bred, healthy puppies for loving homes. Our dogs are our passion, and we can't imagine spending our lives without them. We are dedicated to achieving excellence and healthy family pets, and we love to raise puppies and prepare them for their forever homes. Our facility is climate control with TV and washroom. We live on 40 acres in the mountains with plenty of room to run and swim. Our dogs are our family and anyone that knows us have seen the level of care and love we put into our dogs.

Q. & A. with JIM

  • Why did you start breeding?

We have always had Golden Retrievers, when I was in the military my Golden Remmington traveled to Europe with me and ran with the troops in the morning formations. Our love of the breed we knew we had to do more. My father and I decided to take it to the next step. We lost him as we began starting up the business. We do this business in memory of our great father and the great goldens we owned in the past.
  • What makes your program special?

This is not a job to us, it's a love and passion. We love our dogs and they are part of our family. We are situated in NE Georgia in the mountains with plenty of land and water for our goldens to run. Our business is family operated and we involve grandparents, children and grand kids.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

JIM and his wife are good people who love their dogs. I was impressed by a number of things here: clean facilities, care and attention to the dogs, thoughtful questions and answers, and thorough, responsible paperwork. Now, let me just say I now have the smartest, most beautiful baby pup in the history of the world with the BEST, most chill personality. I'm impressed, thank you😊

When we unexpectedly lost our beloved Golden Retriever, Duke, in the spring of ‘24, we knew that finding our next furry child(ren) wasn’t going to be easy. However, after grieving for more than a year, and allowing the spirit of Duke to guide us, we opened up our hearts and decided upon a pair of English Cream Golden Retrievers. What we didn’t expect in this endeavor was to be blessed beyond our deepest prayers in finding JLB’s Yonah Goldens with Jim & Jackie. Not only were they both responsive in our requests and interest, but their genuine, authentic, caring approach has been consistent throughout our entire experience. Their commitment is evident in all they do. From the facilities they’ve built for the sole purpose of puppy raising and caring for their dames and sires, to the ‘cuddle house’ situated on the property that enabled our adoption day process to be comfortable for the puppies and smooth and seamless for our family. Murphy and Theo (2 males from Max & Lola litter born on May 1st) have been with us for almost a week now. They are BOTH well adjusted, confident, adaptable, healthy, with precious sweet personalities and are absolutely GORGEOUS! It is so apparent that they spent their first 8 weeks surrounded by love and support. They have been easy to crate train, potty train and are on their way to becoming 2 of the best family companions that will spread joy and comfort in their future as a team of therapy dogs. We are absolutely THRILLED with our decision and choice to work with Jim and Jackie of JLB’s Yonah Goldens. We are hopeful they will be friends for life as we plan on continuing our English Cream Golden Retriever journey. Truly blessed. Ursula, Rich, Theo and Murphy

I recently got a puppy from Johanna. Golden and I had the best experience with Jim and Jackie throughout the whole process. They were both very patient with me as I had to delay, picking up my puppy twice prior to actually driving from Massachusetts to Georgia to finally get to pick up a puppy The entire situation of picking up the puppy meeting them on time then being patient payments they gave a cute little puppy bag. They had a collar a blanket. They gave me some food little cup to measure the food and all the paperwork they were extremely organized very pleasant people I would definitely get a second puppy within the next two years This puppy is so calm he’s well behaved. He’s extremely brilliant. He already knows how to sit. He already knows how to come. He’s extremely great on the leash. It took a couple of attempts and only after two attempts on the leash he knew to stay on the side of me and no pulling on the leash. He is absolutely beautiful. He’s in great health. He’s gonna be a big boy and he’s so pleasant. this puppy is the best puppy I’ve ever had easy to train great to look at. He’s so so cute. His personality is so cute and I just am extremely grateful for Jim and Jackie being patient with me so I could finally get this beautiful little puppy. I am so excited for my journey with him and definitely a journey back to Jim and Jackie for another puppy within two years, thank you so much, Johanna Golden’s. I adore you guys and I’ll be back soon.

My experience with Jim could not have been better. He responded to my messages very quickly, usually within minutes. He answered all my questions and provided any data I requested. I live about 600 miles away, so he did a video walkaround with me, showing me the pups and the adults. They live in an incredible two-level barn with beautiful outdoor areas on a gorgeous property. There is a small furnished outbuilding where new parents can meet with their pups while taking care of the paperwork. I suggested to Jim that he could put in some RV parking and have a destination where people could visit the beautiful dogs and play and walk with them. The puppy adoption process was super simple. He kept me informed along the way and let me know how the pups were doing. On adoption day (Dec 9), I drove to Yonah and met with Jim and visited with my pup. I also was able to see the beautiful property and several amazing adult dogs including my pup's father. I especially love the larger English Cream goldens that Jim raises, and I had a great time bonding with my little guy and getting to know Jim. I wish I wasn't 600 miles away, or I would be stopping by regularly to hang out and visit with Jim and the dogs. Merlin has been with me 3.5 weeks now. I've had goldens my whole life. I could not be happier. He's an incredibly cute little guy. Growing like crazy. Very active, very inquisitive, but also very loving and cuddly. Also, amazingly sociable. It definitely shows that Merlin grew up with a lot of brothers and sisters. He loves every person and dog that he meets. No fears or unusual behaviors at all. We are doing puppy party socialization classes, and he is a perfect citizen joining in the play without being too fearful or too rough. He is learning to walk on the leash and loves roaming my fenced backyard. It has been a cold winter so far in VA and he loves being outside no matter what the temperature. A true polar bear. I am also introducing him to water when weather permits. My last golden, who passed about a year ago, loved the NC outer banks and dock diving at a local winery. So, in summary, Jim is a superb breeder who provides personal attention and who has invested a lot of time and money in his business. As word gets out, he's probably going to become a lot busier, but it'll be worth the wait.
