I'm Amy H., the breeder behind Juniper Welsh Springer Spaniels located in Berkeley, CA. This is a lively, loving, and loyal breed, and we aim to breed pups with even temperaments who are equipped to do high energy sporting dog work and physical activities.
As an ethical breeder, we feel a sense of responsibility to prioritize each of our puppies' overall health and temperament and ensure that they will be loved and well cared for before joining their family homes. We carefully plan our litters to maximize the best social and physical traits of each parent. We strive to match our pups carefully with their families, so every puppy owner gets the pup that is most ideally-suited for them.
Q. & A. with Amy
Why did you start breeding?
Welsh Springer Spaniels have proven to be wonderful companions in my life, and it is a privilege to share that love and friendship with others. I wanted to give back to the breed by producing healthy pups and placing them into loving homes.
What makes your program special?
I strive to ensure a good match between the dam and sire of my litters with respect to temperament, seeking to produce the most even-tempered dogs possible. I also seek to ensure minimal genetic overlap in the breeding, to maximize the long-term health of my pups. My breeding girls are trained in agility two times a week and are taken on structured off-leash outings every day for at least 2 hours per day, ensuring they are in top notch physical condition and produce strong, healthy pups. I work hard to match up my pups with the right homes, so each pup gets the home he/she is meant to be in, and the owners get the pup meant for them.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
