In our quest for a family companion, we fused my affection for miniature schnauzers with a longing for a larger breed. Finding two reputable breeders who adhere to AKC standards and OFA testing cemented our resolve. “This price includes docked tails, dewclaw removal, puppy take home kit, first round of deworm and first vet visit. All puppies are the same price regardless of their size. There will be an additional fee if you want the ears cropped, or want a natural tail.”

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
DNA Disease Panel
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
