I'm Karyn C., the breeder behind Kaigans K9s located in Morro Bay, CA. We are small hobby breeders of healthy, happy pups. We prioritize structure, type, and temperament in our program. We have high expectations for our puppies and strive to place each puppy in an enriching and loving home!
Q. & A. with Karyn
Why did you start breeding?
After buying and owning dogs for many years and studying the breeds' standards and various breeding best-practices, I began my own program. With a bit of luck and careful selections, I produced quality dogs in both my breeds. I have now been breeding for 27 years and have loved the journey. My dogs have proven to be wonderful companions in my life, and it is a privilege to share that love and friendship with others.
What makes your program special?
Type and temperaments are the prime considerations for breeding. Many of my puppies are show and performance prospects as well as cherished family members. I am very careful about health, longevity, life span, and broadening the gene pool. Prospective puppy parents are screened closely, and I commit to always being a resource and guide for all of my families who create a forever home for my puppies.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Collie puppies are blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
