Meet the breeder

I'm Gretchen P., the breeder behind Katahdin Kennel Belgian Tervurens located in Kirksville, MO. We focus on the health and wellbeing of our Tervurnes with each raised as family and OFA hip/elbow certified at two years old. Puppies are cared for the same to create balanced and well-socialized dogs. Raised as our own until passed on to their life-long family!

Q. & A. with Gretchen

  • Why did you start breeding?

I grew up in a home that raised Shetland Sheepdogs, so I was very familiar with the process and joy of growing up with puppies. It was quite difficult to find a Belgian Tervuren when we purchased our first one, and I wanted share in the joy of helping others find the dog of their dreams!
  • What makes your program special?

We keep our program small and all of our dogs are treated and loved as family companions first. They're also raised and socialized around children which makes for a very well balanced dog in a lot of ways. Our breeding dogs are all carefully selected for health, temperament, and structure and OFA hip and elbow certified at two years.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include gray and black, black, and mahogany and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
