Katie B.

Breeder of Golden Retrievers

Meet the breeder

I'm Katie B., the breeder behind Katian Kennel located in Lexington, TX. I strive to produce the perfect puppy for the perfect family. I place my puppies with active families who appreciate the time, detail and attention I give to provide a puppy with intelligence, good looks, good health, good temperament with a strong desire to please both in the field and at home. My pups are placed only in active family homes. While some are hunters and some enjoy participating in dog sporting events, all of my pups will thrive so long as they have (1) a family that loves them and includes them in daily life, (2) regular physical stimulation so that they can have a healthy body, and (3) regular mental stimulation so that they can have a healthy mind (all of these help prevent common unwanted behaviors in dogs).

Q. & A. with Katie

  • Why did you start breeding?

My love for Goldens grew to the point where I saw no other path. With the limited genetic pool for well-bred field Goldens along with the health issues that are prevalent due to overbreeding by uneducated golden owners, I knew I could continue my healthy and talented lines, as well as help improve the quality of field-bred goldens to keep the “retriever” in the Golden Retriever!
  • What makes your program special?

I am fortunate to be able to devote my entire life to my Goldens so I have the time to research pedigrees, select breeding prospects, raise puppies with all the love, attention, socialization and exposure to ensure that they have the best start to their new lives. I also train my own dogs so I know my pups inside and out!
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies are golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
