I'm Kelly L., the breeder behind Keleven located in Island Lake, IL. I have bred more than 30 champions in several different breeds. I have bred and shown Border Collies, Norwich Terriers, English Toy Spaniels, and Golden Retrievers. My dogs are my passion and I am forever learning about their care and training. I enjoy sharing my knowledge with others and work hard to raise healthy, well-adjusted puppies and place them in the best homes.
Q. & A. with Kelly
Why did you start breeding?
I showed dogs in competitive obedience since I was 12. During a show in KY, I saw the Norwich and fell in love. My competitive nature drew me to the conformation ring. There was not a lot of Norwich at that time and the only way I could show was to produce my own. With the guidance of a very dear mentor, I bred my first litter and first champion. I was hooked. I found the breeding part just as fascinating and right in line with my medical career. I don't breed often, but every litter is intense for me regarding decisions to breed and the whelping and rearing of every puppy. I feel there is a responsibility and obligation to these puppies.
What makes your program special?
I don't breed unless I know I am producing the healthiest and happiest puppies I can. My dogs must represent the correct standard of the breed. The quality of my dogs speaks for itself.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Golden Retriever puppies are golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
