I'm Amanda B., the breeder behind La Brisa Havanese located in Ann Arbor, MI. Our love of this wonderful breed started in 2005, when we decided a pet Havanese was the right addition for our Maltese who had way too much energy. Dora joined our family and we fell in love with the breed. Unfortunately, Dora came into our home with little human socialization and what resulted was puppy class. We quickly learned how important it was to get a puppy from a breeder who has that in mind. After being voted the most improved puppy after 9 weeks of classes, Dora made me realize how much fun dog training was and I was hooked. This breed is sweet and extremely intelligent. Now, we are multiple Havanese addicts! I show in conformation and performance-agility, obedience, rally, lure coursing, etc.
Q. & A. with Amanda
Why did you start breeding?
I had a mentor with great Havanese. I was doing performance with my first Havanese and saw she had some structurally limitations. I started learning about the breed, conformation, and then thought I could improve the breed as well.
What makes your program special?
My dogs are health tested and show in multiple venues. Most of them have titles in obedience, agility, rally, and are breed champions. I also train dogs on the side so apply my knowledge with my litters.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.
