We breed to preserve the unique characteristics of this breed while considering a variety of traits, including health, conformation, and temperament. We emphasize the proper socialization and training of our puppies, and we strive to promote responsible dog ownership.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

    Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)

    A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

    I don’t even know where to start with a review here. Renee was incredible to work with and delivered me a giant bundle of cuddles, joy, and of course teeth to chew on everything. :) She literally went completely out of her way to make my day and make the transition process so easy. I cannot express enough how much I appreciate her and all she’s given me. It’s only been two weeks since we met up and I picked up my new ball of fur (and teeth) and I am compelled to keep in touch with her almost daily just to let her know how the dog is doing. If you’re in the market for a Dane (and why wouldn’t you be?) contact Renee. She’s honestly the best breeder I’ve ever worked with. Hands down.

    Renee was very helpful and answered all of our questions in a very timely manner. She sent pictures of our puppy we named Duke and his litter mates getting used to car rides. We received a puppy kit and a well documented vet record. Renee was very happy to introduce us to Dukes parents and a couple of older siblings. All of her dogs were in good condition and had a very good temperament. The adult dogs had a generous sized area to play in. The puppy area was clean and all puppies were healthy and well cared for. We did a lot of research on breeders and their dogs. We had gotten our last dog from a bad breeder doing it only for the money and with no concern for the health of her dogs and the vet record we got was totally made up and very unprofessional. We loved our previous Dane but originally bought her because her conditions were so bad. It was clear from the start that Renee bred Great Danes but she also loved them and was more than willing to provide health testing results on both parents and any references we wanted. There is nothing wrong with breeding dogs responsibly and I firmly believe Lakaya Danes does just that. Breeder support is life long and she gives two year health guarantee.
