Meet the breeder

I'm Lora R., the breeder behind Lakeside Havanese located in Chandler, TX. Since the beginning it has been a corner stone to offer the healthiest puppies with wonderful temperaments. We are committed to health testing beyond the normal means via UC Davis and OFA testing which requires specialists. We enjoy talking "Havanese" with you.

Q. & A. with Lora

  • Why did you start breeding?

I was blessed with an experienced and very kind breeder who mentored me. A friend who also bought one of Kiwi's puppies, Emma, wanted to join me in the breeding business. Lola and I are both professionals in other fields. We put together a great business plan incorporating excellence from the beginning. Our partnership lasted 12 years. We recently moved apart but the friendship continues.
  • What makes your program special?

One of the basics for me is being a preservationist breeder which simply means I am looking at the future of the breed via health testing, breeding that results in two dogs genetically distant having a litter, and puppies with loving, healthy dispositions. The testing I do in my program, my knowledge of the breed and breeding issues elevates my breeding program. I co-own multiple champion sires.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
