I'm Caroline H., the breeder behind Lakewinds Collies & Bulldogs located in Newtown, CT. We are the owners/breeders of the #1 Rough Collie in America for 2006. We offer the highest quality for the discerning fancier. We focus on health, temperament, intelligence, and conformation. I think the biggest thing I ever won in dogs - is not the Best In Show Awards, National Wins, and #1 Ranked Rough Collie in the Breed in America - but taking my 4 Bulldog puppies to the children who survived the Sandy Hook Shooting - 3 days after the catastrophe and seeing the children smile and interact with the puppies! One little girl who was so traumatized and they couldn't reach her - completely came back by having my puppy crawl on her lap and lick her face! The puppies ended up growing up with these children at The Community Center and they were given special titles by the AKC with SHTP (Sandy Hook Therapy Puppies) after their names.

Why did you start breeding?
I was fascinated by Lassie and dreamed about having my own puppies one day. We have now been breeding Collies for over 45 years and have success in showing and breeding wonderful companion dogs, some of which are service dogs!What makes your program special?
I think our following of the Golden Rule is key. We also both have an overwhelming passion to preserve the purebred historic breeds. We work hard so our puppies can leave our home with confidence, ready to take on the world with their new family!What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our Collie puppies include blue merle and white. Bulldog puppies include fawn and white. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and a kennel on my property.

Getting a puppy from Caroline
Caroline has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.
Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.
Price
Puppy prices include a $500 refundable deposit and between $3,000 - $5,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.
“Price is dependent on breed and includes AKC papers, a health guarantee, copies of MDR1 tests, eye certification from our Ophthalmologist, a vet check, and a lifetime of support. . The deposit will hold the puppy and is only refundable for health reasons.”
Contract & health guarantee
Caroline may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Cystinuria Type 3 (Variant 3), Bulldog Type Risk Factor, Hyperuricosuria (HUU)
Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
