Lucy L.

Breeder of Havanese

Meet the breeder

I'm Lucy L., the breeder behind Lancaster's of Gold Canyon Havanese located in Calabash, NC. I love to provide healthy puppies to families who are looking for a loving companion. Havanese are great with kids and other dogs/animals. As long as they can be with you, doing whatever it is you love to do, your puppy will be happy!

Q. & A. with Lucy

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started with Siberian Huskies and loved the challenge and reward of bringing such joy to families in the form of a new furry companion. I stumbled upon the Havanese breed in 2004 and was instantly smitten. I bought my first Havanese in 2005 and she still lives with us today as a beautiful example of a very special senior citizen.
  • What makes your program special?

The attention to detail I give to every aspect of breeding, pregnancy and raising puppies sets us apart from other breeders. My work in socializing young puppies is above and beyond what most breeders do. I use science and evidence-based guidelines. Our breeding dogs are health tested and many hold AKC titles. I am an AKC Breeder of Merit. My dogs have won multiple Top Paw (health) awards from HCA.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include cream, red, black, red sable, fawn, and black and tan. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.
