I'm Nicole M., the breeder behind Legacy Farm Goldens located in Maidens, VA. We focus on health and temperament by completing health clearances and DNA testing on our dogs. All pups are raised in home.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I grew up with a love for dogs, especially Goldens, and decided to breed after we lost our first pup to congestive heart failure. I decided I wanted to breed healthy pups for families so they had a better chance of not facing the loss of a dog at too young of an age. I found a mentor breeder and studied her process while waiting to start my own program after my girls passed their health clearances.

  • What makes your program special?

    We aim to keep our program small enough so that we can remain focused on health and temperament. We also aim to develop relationships with our puppy families and host annual reunions. We are happy that we have ongoing contact with the majority of our families and many of them have continued to grow their families with us.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include dark golden, golden, and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Nicole

Nicole has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

Together, you’ll choose the puppy that’s right for you, stay in touch with regular updates, and plan how to bring your new puppy home.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 refundable deposit and between $2,000 - $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes all clearance and DNA screening information for parents, first shots, microchip, and a 3 year health guarantee. Deposit can be refunded until a puppy has been born and is being held specifically for you. if you wish to cancel your reservation, then deposit will be refunded in the manner received.”

Contract & health guarantee

Nicole may provide a written contract or health guarantee when you purchase a puppy. This helps protect both you and your breeder, ensuring that you both have a clear understanding of the terms of your puppy purchase. If Nicole offers a contract or guarantee, the details will be personalized by them. If you have any questions or want to know more, don't hesitate to reach out to Nicole directly.

  • Hip Dysplasia

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

    Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
