I'm Jeff & Theresa M., the breeder behind Legacy Farms Standard Poodles located in Piqua, KS. We love to responsibly raise and train our puppies so they have the tools to be well-rounded, beloved family members. We fell in love with these breeds because of their intelligence and personality. There’s hardly a better feeling than being able to share them with other families that will love them the way that we do!

Why did you start breeding?
We have a family member who breeds labs. We love her program and decided that we wanted to give breeding a try as well. We started breeding labradoodles and soon learned that it was the poodle that we were in love with. Over the last 4 years we have refined our crew to be standard poodles.What makes your program special?
We are a small family farm that raises standard poodles. These are our pets, and are treated with family love, as are their offspring.What are the different breed sizes in your program?
Our puppies are standard size. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include black, blue, cafe au lait, cream, silver, silver-beige, parti, and brindle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?

Program update on 15 Apr •…This is Kennedy. She is from Azena's last years litter. She is in training to be a service animal for a disabled veteran. She'll be in training for another year before she gets placed. This video shows her latest "trick" where she's learning to open the fridge, which can be super helpful for certain disabilities. We are meeting two families in St. Louis to deliver pups in June. We will get to see Kennedy and I could not be more excited to hug her. I remember the day she was born. 🥹 if you're in the St. Louis area wanting to meet with your new pup....let me know!

About Thalia
Thalia is a gentle and mild mannered lady, except when it comes to treats. She is one to sit nicely and wait her turn...well, except at treat time. :) She is always compliant and learns fast. She has been a wonderful addition to our crew. We added her because of her smaller stature and if course her agouti coloring. She's absolutely remarkable!

About Sampson
Sampson is from Azena & Lucky's son from 2024. We held him back to be our new stud after Lucky retired because he was the largest of the litter and his coat which is silver-sable brindle point. He's absolutely gorgeous and his photos do not do him justice. He walks tall and proud as the leader of our pack. Sampson loves to please and if super intuitive. He enjoys walks and absolutely loves to play fetch with his ball. He jumps high and long when at play but also loves a snuggle on the couch. He really has captured the best of Lucky & Azena.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA), Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)
Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA), Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

I had an absolutely wonderful experience working with Theresa and Jeff. From start to finish, everything went smoothly and exceeded my expectations. The pickup process was incredibly easy, and they were so kind and welcoming to me and my family. It was clear they had taken excellent care of my puppy, Maple, until the moment I came to get her. She was already potty trained, social, friendly, and so well-adjusted—it made the transition to her new home seamless. We drove her from Kansas to Colorado and she was calm, curious, and perfectly behaved the entire way. Theresa and Jeff truly did everything right in preparing her for this next chapter. Working with Theresa and Jeff to bring home our poodle was lovely. I have never purchased from a breeder before, and Theresa made the process so easy to understand. Consistent communication, responses, and updates made me feel like I knew my puppy before we even met him. We took our puppy to the vet the day after we brought him home, and even the vet could tell Simon was loved and well-taken care of before he came home to us. If we ever decide to bring another puppy home, we will certainly reach out (even though they’re about a 5 hour drive from us, it would be worth it!).
