Legend French Bulldogs

Carey S.

Breeder of French Bulldogs

Meet the breeder

I'm Carey S., the breeder behind Legend French Bulldogs located in Ohio. We believe that when our puppy becomes a part of your family, you become a part of ours! If you are just looking for a puppy, with no interest in developing and maintaining a relationship with us as breeders, then we are not the breeder for you. We require lifelong contact with all of our puppy buyers.

Q. & A. with Carey

  • Why did you start breeding?

I started in 1990 with Rottweilers, which I bred/showed/trained for almost 20 years. I also have shown and bred Staffordshire Bull Terriers, Chihuahuas. I now solely focus on French Bulldogs.
  • What makes your program special?

Our "breeding" dogs are our pets, first and foremost. They live in our home as part of our family. I get OFA CHIC certificates, and Embark DNA panel for all breeding dogs. They are raised in my bedroom and living room using the Puppy Culture method. I also really like to stay in touch with my puppy buyers and have a Facebook group for them.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include brindle, cream, and fawn. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Eye Certification (CAER, registered with OFA)

Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)

Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.

  • Patellar Luxation

Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

  • Spine (OFA, FCI)

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.
