Jinu, Mira, moon: the littles A few families on our waitlist have asked for additional videos to help them choose between puppies who are high on their lists. For these videos, I’m bringing each puppy individually into a space they have never visited before and giving them an opportunity to explore and interact with some unfamiliar objects and activities. They do have me—a person they know and trust—with them. These are not formal temperament tests, and I would not draw big conclusions from any one reaction. They can, however, offer another glimpse at some of the subtle differences between the puppies: how readily they explore, whether they look to me for support, what catches their interest, how persistent they are, and how they approach something new. I hope these videos help families who are deciding between puppies high on their lists. If you do not see one of your favorites posted yet, please don’t worry! I am making videos for Family #1 first, beginning with the puppies highest on their list. As we move through the waitlist, if it reaches your turn and you would like to see a puppy I haven’t featured, just let me know.

I’m sorry if Iv been slow to respond or things have been a bit less smooth than usual. Our 10 year old pup has been in an acute health crisis that ended last night. We are beyond gutted around here, and he will be deeply missed. Thanks for the patience and grace. We will certainly continue to do our best to support the best matches and easeful transitions of your babies from our arms to yours.

Temperament information is officially posted for the puppies! We’ll be updating photos ASAP, but if you are on our waitlist, please take some time to read through the individual puppy descriptions so you’re familiar with the options when your turn comes. I will reach out to each family directly when it is their turn to choose. As puppies are selected, I’ll update their listings to show Reserved as quickly as possible so everyone can keep track of availability. A few quick guideposts: * For active families, hiking, camping, outdoor adventures, or dog sports: look closely at Sunny, Romance, Moon, and Golden. * For people who love that classic Aussie feel—smart, athletic, handler-oriented, and more likely to show herding instincts: Rumi, Sunny, and Moon are the puppies I’d read most closely. * For families who want a broadly versatile, people-focused companion: Golden, Zoë, and Romance are strong options. * For someone who wants a lower-energy, cuddly companion: take a look at Jinu and Mira. * For someone who wants a softer, gentler puppy and is comfortable doing intentional confidence-building: Starry and Mira deserve a close look. * For families who want a very playful, social dog who loves being in the middle of everything: Romance, Sunny, Moon, and Golden are worth a close look. * For people interested in training and a puppy who seems naturally inclined to work with a person: Rumi, Golden, Sunny, and Moon are especially interesting. * For someone who prefers a little more independence and less reassurance-seeking: Rumi, Sunny, and Romance stand out. * For families who want a puppy that tends to naturally stay connected to the group and go along with family life: Zoë and Golden are especially appealing. Rumi will be staying in my breeding program, and I am currently looking for the right guardian family for her. If you think that arrangement may be a fit for your family, feel free to ask me about it. The puppy descriptions include not only their strengths, but also the areas where each puppy may need more support. Please pay attention to those sections—they are there to help you choose the puppy whose needs truly fit your household, not just the puppy whose photo catches your eye first. Once you have made your puppy selection, I will send your contract and final payment request. We ask that final payment be completed within one week of locking in your puppy choice. And if you’re unsure, ask me. I’m very happy to answer questions, talk through tradeoffs, or point you toward the available puppies I think are the strongest fit for your home, hobbies, other pets, activity level, or specific concerns.

🐾 PUP-DATE: TEMPERAMENT TESTING DAY! 🐾 Today, Sunday, August 16, we completed temperament testing on the Charlie × Bodhi litter, and we are so impressed with these puppies. We use the Badass Breeder temperament-testing format, which is very similar to the Volhard temperament test. The goal is to see how each puppy responds to completely new experiences without the influence of their littermates, familiar surroundings, or people they already know. For testing, each puppy is brought individually into our garage—a space they have never been in before—where we set up unfamiliar toys, surfaces, obstacles, sounds, and experiences. They are tested by a person they do not know. I watch the testing by video and complete the scoring, and then our tester reviews my scores and lets me know whether she agrees or feels anything should be adjusted. And this litter did beautifully. Overall, these puppies were remarkably moderate and balanced. They were very people-oriented, recovered well, and showed a lot of consistency across the litter. We didn’t see any major areas of concern. There are, of course, a few individual puppies who were outliers in certain traits, and those differences are important. Those are exactly the things we want families to understand when choosing the puppy whose temperament will fit their home and lifestyle best. Our tester has worked with Charlie’s previous litters and told me that, of all of them, this is the most balanced litter we have had. That is especially exciting for us because this is Bodhi’s first litter. Temperament is influenced by many things, but seeing this level of consistency gives us some really encouraging early information about what Bodhi may contribute as a stud in our program. Now the work begins on my end! Throughout today, I will be updating each puppy’s individual profile with their temperament-test results and my interpretation of what those traits are likely to mean in a real home. Keep checking the puppy profiles as I get everything loaded. Once all of the profiles are complete and I am confident about my own holdback decision, I will also be working on updated photos and videos of everyone. Then I will begin reaching out to our waitlist families, in order, so that puppy selection can officially begin. This is one of my favorite parts of raising a litter because we finally get to put together everything we’ve observed over the last eight weeks with a more standardized assessment of who each puppy is becoming. I am incredibly proud of this group and very excited to help each family decide which puppy is the best fit for them. ❤️

The pups are only inside during bad weather and at night anymore. We spend a lot of time playing outside and going for walks in the woods. They are learning to stay together as a pack and track where their person is. We’re definitely seeing their little personalities and lots of herding traits coming out in this group. It’s so cute. Today the puppies met a new color of dog (black) and they were terrified. They also were exploring their boundaries with the cats. So far, they have a lot of respect for the kitties.
