I'm Rebecca K., the breeder behind Lizzianna Basset Hounds located in Tullahoma, TN. We are lifelong dog enthusiasts, and we’re excited to share our passion and purpose with others through our breeding program. Our mission is to breed the very best dogs that we can, to raise them with love, and to select their future homes with careful attention.
Q. & A. with Rebecca
Why did you start breeding?
Breeding is something that I have always dreamed of doing. So when I purchased my first basset hound, I started showing her to gain more knowledge in conformationally sound basset hounds. I am eager to breed and provide healthy and sound basset hound companions.
What makes your program special?
With my many years of veterinary medicine work and my education, I strive for nothing less than healthy puppies. I am regularly reading the latest information on new research and studies pertaining to dogs health. Since technology has rapidly helped people gain more knowledge with research, I find it very informative and I love to help educate others.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.

About Lucy
Our Lucy is well socialized with dogs of multiple sizes, breeds, and ages as she would go with me to the vet clinic almost daily to play with other dogs that were boarding for the day. We brought Lucy home at 8 weeks old to become a part of our family of 5. She has grown up with our 3 young children and 2 other dogs. She has participated in AKC dog shows when she was a puppy and has some ribbons to prove it. Our Lucy is very friendly, sweet, and curious as basset hounds are known for this aspect. Our neighbors even greet Lucy! She loves meeting our family at the end of our fenced in driveway each day and will hog the couch when she gets the chance.
Good health testing
Severe Combined Immunodeficiency Disease, X-Linked, Basset Hound Type (XSCID).

About Diel
“Diel” is goofy, smart, and absolutely LOVES children! He follows our kids all over our house and loves to take a stroll through the neighborhood and visit all of the neighbors. He also enjoys being a couch hog 🤣

Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.
Cardiac Evaluation (rDVM, not registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
