I'm Desiree T., the breeder behind Love is Golden located in Weston, MO. Our dogs are bred for health, temperament, and intelligence. We strive to produce the best overall pets and family members. We’re a small-scale program with a big love of this breed! Our dogs are our passion, and we enjoy spreading the love of our incredible dogs with other individuals and families by responsibly breeding. Why Choose Our Puppies? Our commitment to responsible breeding ensures that you are not just purchasing a puppy, but welcoming a healthy and well-socialized companion into your home. Health Assurance We prioritize the health of our puppies by genetically testing both the mother and father to guarantee that they are free from genetic diseases. Additionally, both parents have undergone thorough testing and certification by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA) for hips, elbows, and eyes. Comprehensive Care Package Each puppy comes with an American Kennel Club (AKC) registration, vaccinations, deworming, and 30 days of Trupanion pet insurance. They are also microchipped with lifetime AKC Reunite coverage, providing peace of mind for their safe return should they ever get lost. To help you and your new puppy settle in, we provide a go-home bag filled with essential goodies. Socialization and Training Our puppies are raised in a loving environment, socialized with our seven children, adults, other dogs, and our family cat. We believe that early socialization is crucial for developing well-adjusted pets. We also implement noise desensitization techniques and Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) exercises to help reduce anxiety and promote confidence. Initial Potty Training To assist with the transition to their new home, we begin initial potty training using a litter pan with wood pellets. This method helps the puppies associate a familiar scent with their bathroom habits, making the process smoother for both you and your new furry friend. Lifetime Support Commitment Our commitment to our puppies extends beyond the initial sale. We offer a lifetime of support to all puppy owners, ensuring that you have the resources and guidance you need throughout your journey together. We believe that no dog should end up in a shelter, and if at any point you are unable to keep your puppy, we will gladly take them back to ensure they are placed in a loving environment. We are dedicated to ensuring that our puppies are not only healthy but also well-prepared for their new lives with their forever families.   • Why did you start breeding?

    After becoming owned by our first Golden, we absolutely fell in love with the breed. From their profound desire to please to their court jester type of humor, there never really is a dull moment! We believe your world will be a little sweeter when you too hold the privilege to be owned by a Golden.

  • What makes your program special?

    We breed for quality, not quantity! We strive to create well socialized, healthy, happy puppies with the best of temperaments. We do this by socializing them from a very young age with ourselves and our 7 children. We introduce noise desensitization, early neurological stimulation, as well as early scent introduction with each puppy, at age-appropriate times.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include golden and light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

    When we decided to get a golden retriever puppy, I did a lot of research on breeders. The Love is Golden site was transparent and answered my questions about the puppy's parents' health and the breeder's goals. I contacted Desiree and she responded right away, with every interaction. We were so excited to find a puppy from a breeder that cares about and is focused on the puppy's health, temperament and intelligence. We appreciated Desiree's openness to us meeting our puppy before "gotcha" day, and for the meeting rules she had for keeping the environment clean and the puppies healthy. It was obvious the puppies were well cared for, loved and we got to see mama too. Desiree is knowledgeable and focused on raising social and well-adjusted golden retriever puppies. All of the pictures she posted kept us informed and up to date on progress, which we loved! We were sent home with a package of goodies which was awesome and made the transition home easier! We have had Gracie for four weeks and she is thriving and very smart. Much of that is due to the great start she had with the Love is Golden family.

    I was so glad to come across Love is Golden here on Good Dog! We found our sweet boy, Onyx, and he is such a wonderful puppy! Desiree was communicative and responsive. We could tell Onyx was already used to children as well as other dogs. He is a snuggle bug and sweetheart with his own little dose of pep in his step. He’s already become best buds with our 9 year old golden and does fantastic with our kiddos. I couldn’t have asked for a better little buddy.
