Meet the breeder

I'm Lori K., the breeder behind Lucky Country Labradoodles located in Wake Forest, NC. Hello! Thank you for allowing us to introduce ourselves! We are Lori and Steve Klingler, founders of Lucky Country Labradoodles. We invite you to review our program, and if you like what you see, to complete a preference form to start the journey on bringing home your new best friend. We like to say that we don’t sell puppies. We raise them! A bit about us: • We are based in Wake Forest, North Carolina. We have been breeding Australian Labradoodles since 2010. We breed a limited number of litters per year. We are the only ones that raise our pups; we do not have employees. We oversee every detail and are available throughout the life of your new companion. • Extensive testing of our breeding dogs is paramount. Our parents are health tested to the most stringent standards available. None of our dogs become parents until they have not only passed preliminary screening testing- which is most common with all associations, but also pass final structure testing at two years of age. We are proud to say that we have the OFA Canine Health information Center validation number before being bred- We value transparency with our testing and choose to provide ways for families to verify test results with independent organizations. • We hold the highest level of testing for both of our breed associations o The Australian Labradoodle Association of America- Platinum Paw o The Worldwide Australian Labradoodle Association- All Star health testing award that signifies the highest degree of testing within the ALAA. • Our criteria for parent selection: o Temperament- we use an independent evaluator to assess our pups these evaluators use well known and respected assessment programs including Volhard and the AviDog APET. Every family gets to review the notes and testing video prior to selecting their pup. o Genetic Health- Testing for our breeding dogs can be verified independently through Paw Print Pedigrees and Embark. We use this testing to help us determine our pairings to breed away from known genetic diseases for our parents. o Structure- We screen pups for preliminary testing, and before breeding, we complete final structure testing, considered to be the best practice for reputable programs. All structure testing can be independently verified through OFA.org. We choose to participate in the OFA Chic (Canine Health Information Center) program. The fees we pay contribute to independent research for canine health initiatives. o Size- We specialize in standard sized 45-85 pounds- (most of our dogs will be in the 55-pound range) multigenerational Australian Labradoodles that are from well-established lines. o Coat- A big reason the ALD is so popular is because of their low shedding coat. We specialize in a fleece coat, using available testing from our genetics lab to predict coat type. o Color- Through the genetic testing we do, we are able to predict colors and patterns for our pairings. Thank you for your time and consideration. We look forward to working with you to make your home the next “Home of the Lucky Dood”!

Q. & A. with Lori

  • Why did you start breeding?

We started with one Australian Labradoodle, then added another, then another, and then decided that if we were going to keep adding dogs, heck, we might as well breed them! Seriously, though, we wanted to do it right. We test and vet every parent with every test available to assure that our dogs get the best start possible. We are constantly researching to make sure that the dogs we bring into this world are given homes they deserve.
  • What makes your program special?

Our lines originate from the founding lines with Tegan Park and Rutland Manor in Australia. Our dogs are selectively bred for their temperament and structure, and through stringent health testing of the parents, we breed to the highest health standards available. We participate in the OFA CHIC program. Under .5% of ALD breeders have this designation. Ask us about it!!!!
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include medium and standard sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include caramel ice, caramel, red, apricot, chocolate, cafe, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.
