I'm Donna G., the breeder behind Mapleleaf Goldens located in Bacliff, TX. Breeder of Exquisite English Golden Retrievers Puppies. Parents have excellent pedigrees with International, National, and World champion lineage, show quality, come from some of the finest kennels in Europe. All health clearance completed plus over 200 DNA/Genetic testing with clear/normal results.

Why did you start breeding?
While working at a Veterinary Hospital, I learned everything about Goldens and breeding. I bought my first Golden and wanted to better the breed with each and every litter I produced. I started with American Golden with 1 female, each litter I kept a female. I bought a female from another breeder and she died from cancer at 5 years old, that is why and when I bought my 1st English Golden.What makes your program special?
Our dogs are first and foremost treasured family members, raised in the home, sleep in our bed, travel with us and part of our everyday living. I strive to produce puppies that excel in health, temperament, beauty, intelligence, are structurally sound, and adhere to AKC standards. I put a lot into rearing/raising each puppy/their parents with the best nutrition, health care/clearances, and training.What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies are light golden. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home.

Hip Dysplasia
Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.
Elbow Dysplasia Finals (OFA, BVA, SV, FCI)
Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.
Cardiac Evaluation (registered with OFA)
Heart testing reduces the chance of passing down congenital heart disease, which can cause a range of symptoms ranging from trouble exercising to heart failure.
Patellar Luxation
Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.
Thyroid (Autoimmune Thyroiditis, registered with OFA)
A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).
