Meet the breeder

I'm Abby E., the breeder behind Mara Danes located in Jerusalem, AR. Our puppies come from health tested parents (OFA and Embark). We are proud to offer our high-quality puppies to loving homes such as yours. It’s been such a pleasure to be able to watch every stage of puppy life!

Q. & A. with Abby

  • Why did you start breeding?

I fell in love with Great Danes and started breeding in 2009. I have evolved over the years into a better breeder with a better program because I never think I know it all. The science of health, socialization, whelping and breeding is constantly evolving and we must as well.
  • What makes your program special?

We offer a lifetime genetic health contract. We health test our dogs and strive to improve the breed with each generation. We do the hard work so you can rest assured that your pet will be healthy for years to come.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include blue and white, blue brindle, black and white, brindle, fawn, blue, harlequin, merle, and black. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Abby was very responsive and got back to me quickly about my puppy. When I brought her home she did super well with going to potty mostly in the yard, though we are still having some accidents (to be expected because she is still a puppy and her bladder is so small). Currently working on getting her used to a leash, but she may be the smartest pup I've had. Within just 3 days with me she knew the command here, drop it and the tricks "high five", shake, and sit. She's very eager to learn and please. Such a sweet girl all around and loves everyone. Since coming home the 12th she's put on weight and already sized up from her small size collar! She doesn't bark non stop at the neighbors dogs or pay much mind to any other animals really which is so so nice since now I don't have to break her of barking for no reason or chasing any other animals she may come into contact with. I'd definitely be willing to get another Great Dane pup from Abby (after I convince my husband lol)

My experience with Abby was amazing from the first day. She responded all of our questions. Our puppy came home already being socialized, confident and potty trained! She puts a lot of love and dedication to what she does. I can't recommend Abby enough!

We had an incredible experience getting our Great Dane puppy from Abby through the Good Dog platform! From the very start, Abby was communicative, professional, and genuinely passionate about her dogs. Our puppy had a long flight to join us, and Abby went above and beyond to ensure everything was coordinated smoothly. She kept us updated at every step, providing clear instructions and answering all our questions with patience and care. When our puppy finally arrived, we were amazed at how well-prepared and comfortable he was after such a long journey. It’s clear that Abby truly cares about her dogs and gives them the best start in life. We couldn’t be happier with our new family member and the entire experience. If you’re considering getting a Great Dane, I can’t recommend Abby highly enough!

Hi. All is going well. Shomare aka Zipper is doing well. Nearly completely house trained already. As expected though, he is still learning bladder control. Just started leash training and getting used to traveling in our suv. Gaining noticeable weight and height.

This is the second puppy we have got from Mara Danes!! Our first dog was purchased via good dog two years ago and we were so happy with him that we came back for another. Abby’s puppies are well socialized, well started on the house training path and have beautiful confirmation for a giant breed! I will absolutely continue to be a repeat customer. Our family is so happy with both the dogs we have from Mara Danes.
