Meet the breeder

I'm Sam M., the breeder behind Massanutten Corgis located in Virginia. I have a passion for corgis and it started with my first corgi and grew from there. Our fur kiddos are well loved and cared for. We plan on starting our breeding program in the few years, once we find the perfect farm, or piece of land, to build on. Our dogs live in our home, beside us, as they are our pets first and foremost.

Q. & A. with Sam

  • Why did you start breeding?

I’m still learning more in preparation for the future. Just a genuine love for Corgi breeds! It’s definitely not a breed for everyone, as any breed is suited more for certain types of people and lifestyles. I absolutely love corgis through and through! They’re my “spirit animals” and they crack me up, bring me a deep gut type of laugh and smiles all the time! They’re funny & snuggly and love food!
  • What makes your program special?

First & foremost, our dogs are beloved family pets. As our dogs mature, we will only consider breeding them if they are healthy & well-tempered. Once they come of age, we will evaluate each dog to decide if they will be altered, or if they will join our future program in 2027/2028/2029. Our program is on the hunt for more land, offering our fur buddies total freedom to safely roam, play & thrive.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and guardian homes.

Sandra was very helpful and provided a wealth of information for us. I also appreciated the fact that she raised the puppies in her own home and I felt confident she was an ethical breeder. Our little Betty came potty trained and microchipped with her first vaccination done. She recently had her first visit after adoption and she was healthy as can be, parasite free, and you could tell she was well taken care of. Betty has zero behavioral issues and she is a delight for my partner and I. Sandra was also very accommodating with the pick up location and we were provided with many toys and food and blankets with the scent of Betty’s litter mates that helped Betty settle in during her first days with us. We love Betty so much and we are very satisfied with our experience!

Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
