I'm Mona H., the breeder behind Middle TN Leopard Catahoulas and Middle TN Bassett Hounds located in Manchester, TN. We are highly experienced in this breed as we have owned Catahoula's since 2006. Our foundation female passed away in Aug 2022 at the age of 16. She was our matriarch of our breeding program and has passed on her looks, brains and working ability to her offspring. We have owned AKC Bassett Hounds since 2021. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Animal Science and my husband is a BWFA certified Farrier specializing in corrective shoeing. Our dogs are a part of our family and it is an honor to work with this breed (s). We started breeding in 2009 and have had the wonderful privilege of breeding and raising these beautiful dogs ever since. Because of our knowledge and experience, we are able to ensure happy, healthy, well-tempered puppies who will thrive in any environment. As a courtesy, we are looking for committed families. And PLEASE research the breed. Catahoula's are DM tested parents “clear”. Bassett Hounds are all Paw Print genetically tested. All parents are on premises. (I DO NOT practice Guardian Home breeding at my kennel). if you are interested in adding a puppy to your home, have had all your questions answered and you are ready to place a deposit. Please contact me at nine three one, four zero nine, nine four five eight. Please understand that I do not hold puppies while you ‘think about it’. I only hold a puppy if you have been approved for one of my pups and I agreed to accept a deposit from you, until then no pup has been reserved for you. Bringing a puppy home to your family is a lifelong commitment!

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in Animal Science and my husband is a BWFA certified Farrier specializing in corrective shoeing. He owned a Bassett Hound as a child and has always wanted to reconnect with them so here we are! Our dogs are a part of our family, and it is an honor to work with this breed. We are hound enthusiasts, and this breed is so loyal, comical and stubborn but the most loving creatures. I mean who isn't happy around a Bassett Hound!

  • What makes your program special?

    All of our Parent are genetically tested, which ensures that you are receiving a healthy and thriving puppy. We specialize in laced ears and have been blessed with some beautiful puppies! Puppies will come with first round of vaccinations and a health examination from our veterinarian. They are dewormed at 2,4,6 & 8 weeks of age. Pups will leave with NALC/AKC Registration Paperwork and their shot record. I also provide a carry tote with a blanket with mom and littermates scent, chew toys, and other goodies!

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our Basset Hound puppies include lemon and white, black and white, white black and red, and mahogany and white. Catahoula Leopard Dog puppies include black, red merle, chocolate, and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Mona

Mona has been certified by Good Dog’s screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you’re ready, reach out to ask about the puppies or anything else on your mind. You’ll get to know each other through messaging, phone, or video and pay securely, all on Good Dog.

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Mona partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Price

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $1,500 - $3,000 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“All of our stock are NALC registered and DNA is on file with NALC. All of our stock are DM tested/Paw Print Genetic Testing. We are a reputable breeder with over 17 years of experience. Our pack is part of our family and interact with dogs, children, strangers and livestock so all pups are well socialized. Our breeding program has proven offspring that excel in all working disciplines, confirmation and even temperaments. With a focus on quality breeding practices and a commitment to the breed, we are known for producing healthy and well-socialized puppies with excellent temperaments. Catahoulas are known for their striking appearance and exceptional hunting skills, these dogs are a favorite among working dog enthusiasts and families. It is an honor to work with this breed. Producing excellence one dog at a time! If you are serious about a pup, we require a deposit to be on our deposit list for upcoming breeding (s) or the deposit goes toward a specific pup is chosen after all depositors have chosen a pup from the litter. No window shoppers. “The price includes NALC/or AKC limited registration, deworming every 2 weeks since birth, and first rounds of vaccinations from our licensed veterinarian.”

    Mona is the best!! She’s super helpful and very responsive. I live in TX so transport was required to get Church down to me. Mona sent me contact info for ground and air transport.     Mona with Middle Tn Leopard Catahoulas was absolutely wonderful. My wife and I were not very knowledgeable about the breed. She took time to educate us on the breed and on our desires for a new puppy. The whole process from start to finish was so easy and arrangements were made for our puppy to be delivered to us via private transport. After all the arrangements were made, I actually developed some reservations, and Mona was so kind and gentle to talk me through them. She told me she thought the puppy she was sending us would be perfect for our needs and she was absolutely right. My wife and I were so very pleased and our "Brandy" is indeed absolutely perfect for us. Her temperament and disposition is exactly as Mona said it would be.
