I'm Lisa & Michael S., the breeder behind Mika Japanese Spitz located in Pickerington, OH. With over 14 years of experience, we have been raising rare purebred Japanese Spitz. All of our dogs are pets first and foremost. They are raised in our home as part of our family. They experience normal daily household activity, socialization with adults, children and other dogs that reside in our home. My babies come pre-spoiled from my home to yours!

Getting a puppy from Lisa & Michael

Lisa & Michael has been certified by Good Dog's screening team for responsible and trusted breeding practices. When you're ready to reach out, feel free to ask any questions about the breed, their program, or specific puppies.

Lisa & Michael partners with buyers to find the best match as the puppies develop and their personalities take shape. Typically, matches are finalized when the puppies reach about 6 weeks old.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and $2,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

"All puppies go home with their first round of vaccines, health certificate & are seen by my local vet. They will be fully de-wormed and also will have had their first heart guard and flea and tick medication. We provide your pup with one of his/her favorite toys and also a blanket with mom Mika's and litter mates scent on it to help ease the transition to their new home. Our reservation system is on a first serve basis. Puppies are chosen in the order of deposits received. Should a owner desire a sex that is not available, their name would be moved to the next available litter."

  • Hip Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Hip testing reduces the chance of passing down hip dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause hip pain and the eventual loss of the function of the hip joint.

  • Elbow Dysplasia (rDVM, not registered)

    Elbow testing reduces the chance of passing down elbow dysplasia, which is primarily found in large breed dogs and can cause arthritis in the elbow joint and front leg lameness.

  • Eye Examination (rDVM, not registered with OFA)

    Eye testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide range of hereditary eye illnesses including retinal dysplasia, lens luxation, and glaucoma, which can cause impared vision or blindness.

  • Patellar Luxation

    Knee testing reduces the chance of passing down Patellar Luxation, which results in the kneecap becoming displaced or dislocated and can cause mild to severe joint pain.

    We consider ourselves very lucky 🍀 to have found Lisa and Michael as breeders. They have been so wonderful to work with. From the beginning, Lisa always got back to me in a timely manner and answered all my questions. She informed me quickly once the litter was born, even though she had her hands full with little ones, and kept me updated throughout! I loved ❤️ getting pictures and videos, as he changed so much during those first few weeks. She was extremely helpful in recommending lots of useful products too. But most importantly, they did a fabulous job raising Koda! He is so well adjusted and friendly!! 😊 They did a great job with the introduction to potty training as well. He totally understood the concept of going potty outside from the moment we drove him home and he goes as soon as we bring him out because of this! We were also fortunate to be able to pick him up at their house, meet Mika and Kenji (and Yumi too!) and see the wonderful set up that they use to raise their puppies. And what a set up they have!! It’s no wonder the pups are so well adjusted because they are raised right in the middle of their own home and have so many items that teach the puppies all sorts of varied and valuable experiences. Not only were we impressed but so was my vet when we showed him their unique play-space! Their introduction to the crate has also been beneficial as Koda has no problem being put in his crate at night and sleeps very well during the night right from the day we brought him home! We couldn’t be happier with Koda and highly recommend Mika Japanese Spitz!!!

    Lisa and Michael were wonderful to work with. Lisa and I connected frequently. She posted regular updates in multiple places (Good Dog, Facebook) … photos and videos that made us feel part of our baby’s first 8 weeks, even though we were hundreds of miles away. At the last minute, Michael came through and met me half way (3.5 hour drive for us both) when some unexpected challenges came up at my end. They were both so awesome and accommodating. Very professional but also very warm and clearly in love with these babies. They provided the puppies an incredible, safe playground for important developmental growth. Our girl, Yura (now Kaia), came to us very confident, trusting, and well adjusted. She’s such a happy girl! And is quickly adapting to our pack. We have a 9 year old Japanese Spitz - Gracie - who is schooling Kaia on boundaries and manners. Kaia is a smart girl and a quick learner. She can be sassy and feisty - and that’s a good thing. She’s full of life and brings so much joy to our home. Finding Lisa and Michael was truly a godsend. They provided a loving, healthy, encouraging environment that is so important for puppies first weeks of development. And clearly Mika was an amazing mama too! We are so happy and grateful to have found their caliber of breeder. (But they’re really like a loving family!)     Our journey began about a year after we lost our Japanese Spitz. We knew how special the breed was and that we wanted another JS to be part of our family.     Wahla'nutah is such a treasure. We love his cheerful disposition and eagerness to learn. Especially, we are grateful for the time and effort you put into preparing him for his new home with us. He has managed to win over 1 of our 2 cats and working his way into the hearts of the others. Thanks also for the thoughtful comfort toys and other items you sent with the flight nanny. Right now, Wahla'nutah is playing with a frozen carrot in his little tunnel. He has slept peacefully in his crate these past two nights, only needing to be taken outside to the potty turf a couple times.
