Mikiros Akitas

Mike B.

Breeder of Akita

Meet the breeder

I'm Mike B., the breeder behind Mikiros Akitas located in Alexandria, LA. We are a longtime Akita breeder with 30 plus years of experience. We breed for sound minds, bodies, and consistency in Akitas that excel in both the show ring and the home. Our dogs are our pets first and show dogs second. Every litter is always a little different, but it is so fulfilling to see the different personalities and such a joy and challenge to hand-raise each puppy. We love watching them blossom!

Q. & A. with Mike

  • Why did you start breeding?

Purposeful and ethical breeding is so important for the healthy preservation of the Akita. I started breeding to not only preserve my own phenomenal bloodlines, but to improve this breed with each litter and do my part to ensure the well-being of these dogs for generations more to come. It has been such a fulfilling journey!
  • What makes your program special?

I take responsible breeding very seriously. As a breeder, I'm a steward of the future of the Akita, so I am careful to always maintain ethical breeding practices. This includes proper health testing, intentional breeding for specific traits, and raising my puppies with proper socialization. My dogs have the ability to excel in the performance ring AND are the best family companions at home! I am confident that my puppies will enrich your life just as much as my dogs have touched mine.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

They live in my home and a kennel on my property.
