I'm Barbara J., the breeder behind Mill Iron Farms located in Springfield, OH. Striving for a guardian who wonders and barks less, friendly with people and who carries the best traits of all LGD's combined. The focus is on the needs of the smaller homesteads and providing a calm and noble dog who is friendly with people, yet committed to protecting their livestock.
Q. & A. with Barbara
Why did you start breeding?
If you are reading this, I'm guessing you are much like we were in the search for the perfect LGD. We needed a dog that was friendly with people, barked less, and did not roam. A dog bred for our smaller farm which is along a highway. A dog that was accepting of people and the kids that came to visit. When we found this unremarkable breed, we were hooked!
What makes your program special?
The breeding program of these dogs in general is backed by the compassionate community that has dedicated their hearts to developing these much needed dogs. This isn't just being done by one, but by this community of breeders, backed by a dedicated, supportive founder. When you purchase a CMD, you are joining a family of support which is hard to find now a days.
What are the different breed coat colors in your program?
Our puppies include white and badger. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
Where do your breeding dogs live?
They live in my home and guardian homes.
