Breeder of Goldendoodles

Meet the breeder

I'm Shannon H., the breeder behind Millie’s Goldendoodles located in Yadkinville, NC.

Q. & A. with Shannon

  • Why did you start breeding?

We have always loved the Golden Retreiver breed. Goldens shed ALOT and we have a family member with allergies. We got our first Goldendoodle, Millie, in 2021 and fell in love. The wonderful personality of the Golden that we adore, without all of the shedding. We have considered breeding for many years and we want to continue to improve the Goldendoodle breed and share with other families.
  • What makes your program special?

We are a small program so we are able to give a personal touch to our clients and spend quality time with each of our puppies. Our parents are GANA registered which requires specific health testing (OFA hips, heart, elbows, patella's, eyes and DNA testing). We do ENS, ESI, BAB and Avidog curriculum with our puppies to ensure that are well socialized to prepare them to be the best possible pet.
  • What are the different breed sizes in your program?

Our puppies include miniature and medium sizes. Sizes will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

Our puppies include apricot and red. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.
  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

  • Ichthyosis, Golden Retriever Type

A breeder may perform additional tests on their dogs that do not fall into these general categories. These tests may be more uncommon or very specific to a particular breed.

  • DNA Disease Panel, Degenerative Myelopathy (DM; SOD1A), Neonatal Encephalopathy with Seizures (NEwS), von Willebrand Disease I (vWD I), PRA, Golden Retriever 2, PRA, Golden Retriever 1

Genetic testing reduces the chance of passing down a wide variety of hereditary diseases of differing prevalence and severity such as Progressive Retinal Atrophy (an eye disease) and Von Willebrand's Disease (a blood disease).

Health testing is one key piece of responsible breeding and is performed on breeding dogs to prevent the presence of heritable conditions in their puppies.
