I'm Amy B., the breeder behind Mockingbirds American Minis located in Clinton, MO. We do our best to socialize and acclimate each litter so we’re able to offer all-around healthy and well-mannered puppies! Our dogs stole our hearts right from the start and we found ourselves wanting to get more involved. Breeding was a natural next step and we haven’t looked back since! We love to train, show and love Miniature American Shepherds. They are such an amazing and fun breed.

  • Why did you start breeding?

    I was lucky enough to be born into a family that lived and worked on a farm. My mother has raised Miniature American Shepherds for 30 years. I love that we can spend time together doing the thing that we love. We both have great pride in making the breed better with the dogs we raise.

  • What makes your program special?

    I find it extremely important to raise the best dogs possible to improve the MAS breed. That is my goal. I think the temperament, confirmation and health should be equally important in a dog. I give my puppies the best start they can possibly have with the love and attention I give them.

  • What are the different breed coat colors in your program?

    Our puppies include black tri and blue merle. Colors will vary depending on the parent dogs.

  • Where do your breeding dogs live?

    They live in my home.

Getting a puppy from Amy

After buyers complete the application and screening process, Amy partners with them to find the best puppy match.

Puppy prices include a $500 non-refundable deposit and between $750 - $1,500 final payment, before taxes & fees.

“The price includes a loving, well socialized puppy with a health guarantee, vaccinations, AKC papers, microchip, tail and dewclaws removed. Deposits are non-refundable unless you want to transfer it to another puppy I own.”

    Amy made the process of getting Mindy very user friendly. We couldn't come pick her up right away so Amy was happy to keep her an extra 10-day until we were able to get there. She up-dated us on her progress and training with photos and videos. The pick up process was clean and easy at the KC airport, were we had plenty of time with just a 2 hour layover. Paperwork was all in place to fly her to Florida, and Mindy is as sweet as can be. You can tell that Amy wants all of her pups to succeed, giving them a great home and up bringing before they are adopted.

    Amy was amazing since the day I reached out considering buying the puppy. She explained the whole process to us and answered all our questions, she was very kind as well. We weren't able to pick her up and we had to wait a few weeks and she was more than happy to hold the puppy for us and through the whole process she keep sending photos and videos to us, which me and my girlfriend loved it. The pick up process was also amazing, we meet at the airport, she brought the puppy along some food and a folder with all the paperwork I needed for the vet and plane. We are happy to include Cookie, formerly known as Bam Bam, into our lives.
